Still Busy As A....

Work has gotten somewhat better thanks to my very supportive boss. The boss understands the complexity of what I do and the complication of it being the first time I have done this here. Because of that, boss has given me great advice on necessary changes in what was done and changes in the process going forward. But the best advice boss gave was to take the initiative over the situation and schedule a meeting to explain where I am in the project and give a post mortem/lessons learned from this go around. I have planned that meeting for Tuesday and I will spend all of Monday getting ready for that Tuesday morning meeting.

For the meeting, I’ll briefly lay out where we are in the current project and give some key milestones in the near future. After that, I’ll update the group with some figures on recent revenue and then I’ll do the post/mortem with some visual aids. Last, I’ll do a discussion on future considerations in light of recent events. That should easily fill an hour and satisfy the higher ups that progress is being made although it’s not all visible yet.

I might actually come out of this relatively unscathed, though I have a nagging fear that the situation might be more serious than it seems on the surface. It might just be my pessimism and negativity creeping in but with my luck the thing I think is least likely to happen will. So, I rationalize that if I really analyze the situation and expect the worst the opposite (or not as worse) will happen. I actually could be jinxing it by even typing this by my fucked up logic!
