Life Goes On
Not much going on at the moment.I have been spending time doing our taxes and we are going to be getting back a chunk of cash in the refund that will go a long way in clearing up our financial problems. It will also give us a chance to buy some new furniture for our living room. We have a couch/recliner thing that is in dire need of replacement. We have owned it since we got married more than 11 years ago! It's pretty beat up and the recliners don't close anymore so I had to wire them shut and the upholstery is badly flattened. It's time we bought something new.
I don't think I mentioned it yet but my son scored his first two goals in his hockey game this past weekend. I was so excited (more so than him I think). The first one was a breakaway from the offensive blue line straight on goal and he shot it through the goalie's legs. The second was a tip in on a rebound. He has not stopped talking about them.
Speaking of my son... His 9th birthday is coming up next week and we have a couple of surprises for him. First, we are taking him to see his first professional hockey game this weekend and we bought him a USA hockey jersey. We had to tell him about the hockey game since he overheard my wife and I talking about it but he doesn't know about the jersey. I think we are going to buy him some Lego, too. If the tax refund comes in by then I might even buy him his first cell phone. I know, I know, he's only 9, what does he need a cell phone for... Well, I'll tell you, with my wife going back to work and all his activities, it is becoming obvious that we need him to have that line of communication available just in case.

How cool is that?!?!? He'll love the hockey game!!
This last year we took our son to a hockey game for his b-day... he's not a big fan of hockey like your son is, but he really enjoyed himself :)
Very cool that you'll be able to take care of some of those pesky financial issues and treat yourself.
huggs!
Thanks, EN, we're looking forward to it.
